Eyelash Extensions

This technique developed  by beauticians and cosmetologists to improve the beauty of the eyes: to  get thicker, longer and more beautiful eyelashes. Originated in Japan at  the start of the millennium, it became popular in 2004 and 2005.

Single synthetic  fibers made of  polyester materials are added to natural eyelashes to get a fuller  look. Using surgical grade adhesives, synthetic lashes are applied one   to one natural lashes. Only licensed aestheticians may legally apply  eyelash extensions in certain states. The procedure takes approximately  one hour and a half to two hours for a full set of extensions. They may  be worn while sleeping, swimming or showering and may last indefinitely  with refills every two to three weeks, depending on the cycle of hair  growth. As the hair has its natural cycles, “growth phase”, “declination  phase”, and “shedding phase”, the lash  falls out naturally in the  third phase, the shedding phase, dropping out the extensions with it.  And a new growing cycle begins.

During the application, the stylist will  isolate a natural lash and attach one lash extension to the isolated  hair about 1 mm. from the lash line so    the extensions do not touch  the skin, irritating the eyelid, or stick to each other.

Artists like Nicole Kidman, Star Jones, Jennifer Lopez, Paris Hilton,  Jennifer Love-Hewitt,   Lindsay Lohan, Gwen Stefani, Lucy Liu, Naomi  Campbell and Liz Hurley are fans of eyelash extensions and the list  keeps growing.

Extensions come in different thickness, lengths, colors and  curvatures. The choice of the right length, curvature and thickness of  extensions must be done by a specialist, according with the client  characteristics and lash size. When improperly applied, for example, if  extensions are thicker than what they have to be, the hair follicle is  stressed and the natural eyelashes are forced to drop out, falling out  before their natural cycle. When properly applied, an extension will  remain in place until the natural lash on which it rests falls out. Extensions applied one by one look completely natural, unlike the  lashes applied as strips or clusters.

Due to the advanced procedures and regulations, they are harmless, lightweight and comfortable.
